Targetman
Fast passing and receiving drill to enhance body position and good technique.
Setup
Place 4 marker discs in a square about 3-4m apart and split the team into groups of 4. One player of the group starts on each marker, with one player being the target (T) and the other 3 players are normal. (N1, N2 & N3) Two of the normal players start with a ball each. N1 passes to T, who receives and then passes to N3. N2 passes to T, who receives and then passes to N1. N3 passes to T, who receives and then passes to N2.
Objective & Coaching Points
This is a really simple drill to build good passing and receiving habits. Start with proper technique and accuracy and slowly build speed. You can also develop communication and push effort levels by moving into the correct body position for every receive and pass.
Extension & Progression
The best progression is speed and keeping the target for longer periods to work on effort levels.
