CPD - Straight

The basic Continuous Passing Drill.

Setup

Split the team into groups of 4 to 8. (6 is ideal) Split the group into 2 (A & B) and have them start 10-15m apart. Player 1 from group A starts with a ball. This player carries the ball towards group B and when they are about half way, they pass the ball to the front player of group B. They then continue and join the back of group B. The player who received the ball then carries it towards group A. When they are about half way, they pass the ball to the front player of group A. They then continue and join the back of group A.

Objective & Coaching Points

The objective is to have the ball in continuous motion. To achieve this players need to have good ball control, scan before passing, accurate passing and good receiving. It is a good training drill for beginner players as it introduces them to the speed and continuous motion of a game. It is also a good warmup, or pre-match drill for more experienced players.
