CPD - Angle Carry
A high pace drill to practice passing and receiving on the move. Good for warmup at training or before a game.
Setup
Split the team into groups of 4 to 8. (6 is ideal) Split the group into 2 (A & B) and have them start 10-15m apart. Player 1 from group A starts with a ball. This player carries the ball at a slight angle towards group B and when they are about half way, they pass the ball to the front player of group B. They then continue and join the back of group B. The player who received the ball then carries it at a slight angle towards group A. When they are about half way, they pass the ball to the front player of group A. They then continue and join the back of group A. Continue rotating through like this for 3-5 minutes.
Objective & Coaching Points
Accurate passing to the appropriate place. Good leading onto the ball. Receiving to keep the ball in motion.
Extension & Progression
Players should lead onto the ball. Reduce the time with the ball and pass earlier.
